Applicant Test Reading Guide

The advisor lifecycle pod will use the outline below as a test reading guide during test readings with applicants via Zendesk.

Before a call: Please apply the Applicant Test Call Notes & Rubric Macro for your internal notes during the test reading, as shown on this test ticket here. Feel free to adjust during your call as needed.

Once the macro is applied, case reason will be updated to Applicant Test Call and the stella_exclude tag will be added so that the applicant does not receive a CSAT email.

Once the call and notes are completed, please add the Zendesk link as a note to the applicants profile in Greenhouse.

Test Reading Guide:

Setup / Intro (1-2 minutes)

"Hi [Applicant Name], this is [name] calling from Keen Advisor Success, thanks for jumping on the call today! We really appreciate your time and can’t wait to get started.

We’re going to do a quick test reading so we can experience your style firsthand.

I’ll play the role of a keen customer. You can greet me, ask whatever initial info you usually need, and then we’ll dive right in. Any questions before we get started?

The reading (10-12 minutes)

Examples of topics:

"My partner got a job offer in another state, and they really want us to move. I love where we live now, my whole family is here, and the thought of starting over somewhere new gives me so much anxiety. Will moving bring us closer together, or will I regret leaving my comfort zone?"

"I’ve been close friends with someone for over a year, and lately the dynamic feels like it's shifting into something more. I’m catching real feelings, but I'm terrified that if I confess how I feel, it will ruin our friendship and make work awkward. Do they feel the same way about me, or am I reading too much into it?"

"On paper, my life looks great, but deep down I feel completely unfulfilled and exhausted every day. I feel like I'm just going through the motions. I want to make a big life change, but I have no idea what direction to head in. What energy or path should I be focusing on right now to find my spark again?"

“I’ve been feeling really stuck at my job lately. A recruiter reached out about a new position at a different company, but I’m terrified to make a move. I just want to know if leaving my current job is the right choice, or if I should stay put.”

"My parents are constantly putting pressure on me regarding my life choices, and every holiday or family event ends in an argument. I’m thinking about pulling away and setting strict boundaries, but I feel so guilty. How can I protect my peace without permanently damaging my relationship with my family?"

Debrief and questions (5-6 minutes)

Thank them for their time, remind them to create their listing if they haven’t already, and answer any questions they may have. Let them know that if they are selected to move forward in the application process, they will hear from our team directly via email.
